Education & Licenses

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current OSPI Driver Authorization
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with appropriate endorsement and evidence of insurability; DMV report reflecting five years of driving experience with no major traffic violations in a personal vehicle
  • CPR/first-aid certificate within 60 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required

  • Ability to perform required duties
  • Ability to pass a physical exam, as required by the state of Washington
  • Good driving record (provide a clean driving abstract for the last 5 years)
  • Criminal justice fingerprint clearance
  • Drug testing clearance

Abilities

  • Ability to maintain effective student behavior management while safely operating the bus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sufficient strength and agility to move about in a school bus as required to provide assistance to students

Physical Requirements

  • 70% sitting, 15% walking, 15% standing
  • Lifting/carrying/pushing/kneeling
  • Stoop/crouch/crawl
  • Fine finger dexterity
  • The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness

Other Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • TB Clearance
  • WA State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Release
  • Pre-employment drug screening
