Mental & Emotional Health Services
Sometimes children go through emotional, social and personal struggles that are difficult to understand and even harder to overcome without support. One of the many services the program provides to help ensure your child's success in the classroom is the support offered through the program's Mental Health Specialists. What services will be provided for my child and family? There are routine services that the Mental Health Specialist completes as a requirement of the program. The following supports fall under this category:
  • Staff training, education and consultation
  • An observation of each classroom
  • Advocacy and resource referral to services in the community
  • Providing parenting education
The following assistance is implemented by request:
  • Providing written information on requested topics
  • Completing an individual observation of a child with parental/guardian consent
  • Participation in behavior plan meetings
  • Consultation to teachers regarding situations that are challenging for them
  • Crisis intervention

Our Mental Health Specialists have provided a comprehensive list of resources to aid parents, families and classroom staff in the support of the goals set by Head Start and ECEAP
