Welcome to Sound to Harbor Head Start/ECEAP
Serving Grays Harbor, Mason, and Thurston Counties
Head Start and ECEAP are preschool, child and family development programs for young children and their families. Head Start has been in existence nationally since 1965 and was designed to provide quality preschool and family support services to low-income families. The ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) was started by the State of Washington in 1987 to serve additional preschool children from low-income families. Most Head Start/ECEAP programs serve three and four-year-olds; although a few serve younger children as well.
We believe that parents are the most important influence in their child's education, development, and general well being. We support parents by making information and resources available, and by providing a variety of experiences throughout the year.
Funding for our program models comes from: Administration for Children and Families for Head Start, the Washington State Department of Early Learning, the United States Department of Social and Health Services/Department of Children and Family Services; the United States Department of Agriculture; and the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Educational Service District #113 is the "grantee" that administers Head Start/ECEAP in Thurston, Mason and Grays Harbor counties.
